Shop It To ME!
So, I know I’m not the only person who absolutely worships designer fashions in all their high-priced glory, but there is just no way that I can financially support my window-shopping, internet-browsing habits by actually purchasing anything full-price. In turn, I try to find great designer pieces that are marked-down to a price that is a bit more reasonable. I plow through website after website looking for pieces that I absolutely need to have, and it’s even more satisfying to know I saved as much as 40% on great pieces of clothing or accessories. And although the reward is great, it is takes quite a bit of searching, and most importantly TIME!
Recently a friend of mine sent me an e-mail that was a special invitation to a website called ShopItToMe. The site is sort of like a personal on-line shopper, so WE don’t have to spend all that time plowing through websites looking for those special mark-downs on our most loved designer-wear. The site asks for your sizes and has a massive list of designers and designer labels which you check off your favorite ten, which you may add or subtract from later. Some of the designers in this amazing compilation include Marc Jacobs, Theory, BCBG, Armani, Prada, the list goes on. You also tell them what exactly you’re shopping for such as blazers, swim wear, dress pants, jackets, or shoes. Once you’ve completed this profile of your shopping preferences, you are asked if you would like to invite any friends. The opportunity here was that if you invite 10 friends, you get a $10 gift certificate to either J. Crew, Bloomingdales, or Banana Republic. You can even invite up to 50 friends. That means up $50 dollars in gift cards! That’s not a bad deal if you ask me! Now I’m enjoying gift cards and a daily e-mailed compilation of my favorite designer brands clothing, shoes, and accessories in my size AND on sale in “one-click” shopping!

Pre-Fall 2009...I Can't Wait!

I know I should be excited for the springtime because not only does it come with beautiful weather and astonishing clothes from some of our favorite designers; after seeing all of those fashion shows in class why shouldn’t I be at the edge of seat waiting for this freezing weather to vanish? As we all know fashion is way ahead of its own game when it comes to new color trends, silhouettes, materials, patterns. Well, browsing through WWD.com I came across designer’s pre-fall 20009 and can I just say that “BOLD” is an understatement. With great silhouettes accentuating a women’s figure and outstanding colors, you will be put on the spot without even trying.
Diane von Furstenburg created an “urban jungle” theme with slimming silhouettes, animal prints, and rectangular blocks. My favorite collections included Narcisco Rodriguez who was inspired by fashion collages and created a bold colorful effect incorporating silks; and Zac Posen by whom I was infatuated by. His French-inspired collection emanates feminine beauty with bell skirts, hues of blue and yellow, as well as more neutral-colored pieces that were just as stunning.
So even though I am so amped to see this cold weathered season disappear and allow the warmth of the sun to radiate around me, along with the spring fashions to hit the streets, I am excited to see how the pre-fall collections will be acknowledged and what these designers have to offer later into the fall season.

Wrap Me Up!

When we were asked the first day of class to list one piece of clothing or an accessory we can’t live without for me it was a no-brainer…scarves of course! In all different styles, colors, patterns, and materials, they are one of the most versatile accessories. By just adding a couple to your wardrobe, you’ve incorporated a style that can be adorned with a multitude of outfits. Scarves have definitely made a huge comeback from simply being worn in freezing temperatures to stay as warm as possible. They can even be spotted being worn in the summertime! Made from silks or linens and paired with a loose-fitted tank or a tee, fashion has obviously made big twists over the years. It’s the perfect way of allowing an outfit to come alive. They can be substituted for necklaces; even the larger ones can be worn as shawls. As for me, I adore scarves with bold, colorful patterns where you can wear a solid colored blouse, that way the scarf just pops! It’s a great accessory not only to stay warm but they make an outfit complete! Nicole Richie has been seen rocking silk scarves with skulls since the days of “The Simple Life”. Not only can scarves be wrapped around your neck, but I’ve seen a lot of women wearing thinner scarves as head-scarves. Personally, I just go to G-Street and pick up a ¼ yard of silk with a killer pattern and use the material as a head scarf. As seen worn by celebrities such as Lauren Conrad, even her arch-nemesis Heidi Montag from “The Hills”, as well as Jessica Alba, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, it’s obvious wearing scarves in cold weather or not is a trend that's here to stay, and that is perfectly all right with me!
